Black Gambeson - Medieval clothes
It was always possible to drive the point of a weapon through the rings of a mail shirt or shear it with a good cut. This often drove the damaged rings deep into the wound. Even if the blow didn't cut the mail, the blunt trauma alone was enough to break bone and damage internal organs. A thick, padded garment worn under a mail shirt greatly reduced the risk of these types of injuries. Our gambeson is a type worn from the early Middle Ages well on through the Renaissance. Available in sizes M, L and XL.
Gambeson - Men's Cloths
A gambeson would be worn either separately or in combination with maille or plate armour. Gambeson is made of fine quilted canvas that will both protect and provide an accurate period outfit for re-enacting. Made in the style of the 13th century with laces up the front, this gambeson will can be used as either a great practice outfit or padding under our other suits of armour.
